INTERVIEW WITH TFA MOTORSPORT
The Task > Assemble a documentary-style interview from a mixed footage set: 3-camera multicam a-roll, a single-camera garage tour, and various archival race clips provided by the client and the featured team. The delivery target was approximately 2-3 weeks.
The Process > My workflow started with a rough cut based on the script, followed by a structural review with the project manager to ensure narrative flow. A major part of the process involved heavy trimming to remove dead air and less engaging segments; since I had a lot of b-roll and multicam angles to work with, I was able to cut aggressively while keeping the transitions seamless.
My goal here wasn’t to focus on personal emotions, but to highlight the professional and technical side of the sport. I supported this atmosphere by choosing cold color tones and a more neutral soundtrack. During the garage tour segments, I had to manage inconsistent lighting across different zones, which required frame-by-frame color balancing and use of keyframing to maintain a consistent look.
To handle the low-quality YouTube archives, I developed a custom processing layer to bridge the gap between old footage and the high-end a-rolls. I applied a stylized CRT-like filter with horizontal scanlines. Once the structure was locked, I moved into the final stages - integrating overlays, music cues, and refining the overall pacing to keep a 46-minute piece engaging from start to finish.
